Rankin Field Weapons Range
Shoot. Train. Repeat.
About
Rankin Field is Central California's premier public shooting range, tucked into the Central Valley just outside Tulare. We are a safe, welcoming place to practice, train, and perfect your shooting skills, whether you are brand new to firearms or a seasoned shooter.
A Range With History
This land has served Central California for generations. In 1940, aviation pioneer Tex Rankin opened a flight training academy here, one of just 62 civilian-owned flying schools that prepared Army Air Corps cadets during World War II. The airfield closed in 1945.
In 1997, the Tulare County Deputy Sheriff's Association purchased the property, and in the fall of 1999 it reopened as Rankin Field Weapons Range, a public shooting facility that has served the community ever since.
